1925 and 1943
My mom and I saw the 1943 movie with Claude Raines. We were literally laughing....it was ridiculous! If you haven't seen it, go rent it!
The 1925 version had a better story than the '43 one. Lon Chaney was.....interesting. You know, in all three movie versions of this, I can laugh at Raoul. 1925 he was so serious; he only smiled about three times. 1943 was just altogehter a joke, and 2004....now, I'm not making fun of Patrick Wilson, but his Raoul was just....entertaining. He had very....pretty....hair.
So, yep! There's my two cents.

Re: 1925 and 1943
I rented the 1925 version, and I thought it was hilarious! Not because it was a comedy but just because of the way they did their makeup for certain parts... and how different it was from the newer version was amazing considering that they were the same film!

Re: 1925 and 1943
I do prefer the 1925 version over 1943. Not quite sure why, but I do!

I actually prefer the original 1925 version to all the others, including the last one. Then again I am a fan of the classics. My favorite movies are 1931 Frankentein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolfman.
I'm kind of shocked at using 'hilarious' to describe this movie. No it didn't have the fancy outfits and the bells and whistles of the modern movie but it had something much more important. ACTING. You have to seperate yourself from the special effects and props and watch it again.

Yes, the Lon Chaney version did have good acting, not just for that era. I believe the characters were more accurately portrayed in this version than the 1943 adaption.

Well to me you just can't out do Lon Chaney. The man was a master. I found him to be the perfect 'Phantom'

Re: 1925 and 1943
Oh my God I lvoe Lon chaney!
I'm waaay too tired to rant about it now so I'll leave it at that
I actually haven't seen the 1943 one yet (that and the 1998) so I'm not going to judge just yet
