posticon Favorite part of the book.

What I really loved about this book is the first chapter. It really caught my attention and made me want to know well what do they mean by that? Who is the Opera Ghost? If I keep reading will I find out? That was how I first found out that there was even a story called The Phantom of the Opera. This chapter is my favorite part of the book.

I liked the beginning, and Christine and Raoul's conversation on the roof. Even though her description of the journey down below scared me....ha ha. I'm sure other things will come back to me once I reread it.

The parts with Madame Giry in it...she is not the middle aged beauty as depicted in the movie but rather an old crone, yet a clever one. I've always liked her.

I tell you one thing I WASN'T crazy about, and that's the incessant referral to Christine's beauty (she was a blonde, wonder why ALW changed that? I digress.) It's like we KNOW she's etheral and frail and angellic, but does he have to talk about it in every chapter? I can't complain too much though, it IS a masterpiece.

This is one of my favorite books and I find it hard to pinpoint an exact part that I like. To me the book is the wonderful, dramatic, masterpiece because of every part in the story. But I always like the end of books, when the story starts to slow down and explain things that you wanted to know.

Re: Favorite part of the book.

I finally read it! I've had plenty of time and I kept saying that I'd look for it next time I went to the library etc. but I finally just went to their website and put a hold on it. I read it in one day because I didn't want to put it down! I am thinking of rereading it, and this time I'll take my time. I loved the whole book and I have yet to come up with my favorite part. emoticon

I recall being confused in the beginning....figuring out who was who and what was going on, but definitely as it went on things cleared up. It creeped me out.
